This collage series is based on a central theme, consisting of three or more subjects in each collage. Succulents were chosen because the artist grew very fond of collecting and taking care of this species. She specifically appreciates their naturally occurring patterns, shapes, colors, as well as their resilience. The artist included her own succulents as well as succulents from other owners. The imagery is combined to evoke a sense of connection but also individuality through each succulent’s unique characteristics. The compositions are meant to be pleasing to the eye while also causing a sense of claustrophobia evoked through the overlapping plants, which reveals the nature of succulents as they grow in clusters and thrive together.
