Midnight embraces the ambiguity of what the word actually means: the transition of day and night. It utilizes text as abstract imagery which challenges how we view type as more than just a tool for verbal and written communication. The design consists of contrasting color schemes and patterns that emphasize this definition.The process began with choosing a single word, finding several typefaces, experimenting with compositions and details of the type, which then led to combining the letters into cohesive tiles and later into an animation. The designs leave the viewer wondering “Is it day or is it night”?
